hello first attempt at posting photo's so here goe's ....so i have run into finacial trouble.BUT the hobby must go on.so have been building and trying to create terrain from found materials (don't we all do this ) this is a gaint deathworld tree.yes there is no top to it, but i thought that the canopy is so high that every thing happens far below (think return of the jedi). this was made out of a piece of wood (funny that) broken peice's of poly and plaster of paris for texture. this is my first atempt but have already started on my third and forth tree .

sorry about qaulity of image's using my girlfriends point and shoot camera.
so here is another tree that is being built this time i used cardboard to build the roots and pva soaked paper towels for texture again broken poly for rocks this has not been plastered yet or any plants added, next to the tree is my jungle grass idea.using frayed rope and a hot glue gun sticking them on spaced far enough apart so the mini's can get through this time using sand for texture again i'm trying this stuff out but so far so good. the hot glue gun is WICKED it makes the process fast and the rope is strong enough for me to pick up the terrain by it.

so here is my first finished bunker. i'm not so happy with this because i rushed it. its the inside of a mobile phone box (the tray) up side down the pump thing is shapped by cardboard and the brick work is scored card board which worked pretty good. texture is again pva soaked paper towels. Messy but once dry hard as rock a straw from my last milk shake is the pipeing(hope i cleaned it,was in a real creative rush) i learned with this one uniform placing of things (the grass) makes it look unnatural or fake.and i want my deathworld jungle 40k bunkers to look as real as pos......heheh e Grin

(sing)the hill's are alive with the sound of AARGGGGGHHHH!!! first small hill basic poly with plaster, rope for grass, and my flax plants are made from the trimmed ends off my weedeater.i have to trim my weed eater line all day ( i'm a contract gardener ),and i noticed they looked like individual leaves of a flax bush.lucky me! will continue to collect and any one who wants a bag to use just ask(if and when i get to town Roll Eyes)another thing i learned was that plaster cracks if it dry's to quickly i solved this prob by filling in cracks with pva and sand. Bushes/scrub are not brought but old mans beard moss which grows on fruit trees i have just painted that the right colour.and none of these terrain have been painted with mini's paints. all tube paint thicker but more robust

Some good ideas for cheap terrain here man.

I just spent yesterday afternoon making some budget terrain out of poly out of a few computer boxes, made some alright budget looking walls and bunkers, doesn't look as nice as these do though.

I might try that tree idea Smiley

is a better atempt at photo's still using a small point and shoot camera here is the grass painted and another tree (aiming to make about ten large tree's) and painted long grass (aiming to make a few of these as well some with fallen trees/logs.in the back is the ork hut painted.there in my ork armies colours (wow red and black haven't seen that before Tongue) things i have learn't keep the bases small and not regular shapped.

I've attempted to copy your tree idea but made it a little larger scale and made it into a 5 giant tree forest thing, it doesn't look anywhere near as nice as your ones do but it is a good idea for cheap as chips terrain, I need to mould some roots on them and then paint them a tree looking brown of some sort as well, I also think I may have made them a little on the large side too, like 3 dreadnoughts tall most of them Cheesy

Definitely good stuff for people wanting to play at home without blowing the bank.

i was getting bored with trees, so decided to try something a little more deathworldy Grin
i found an old split tennis ball and thought GIANT MAN EATTING PLANT... this was a trail version, and my next one i will do a little more planned.
used the handy towel and pva technique to create texture and the tenticles. WAY! to messy and difficult to work with. the tenticles where easy enough to work, wrapped it around $2 handy wire. spikes are tooth picks will post again when i have painted him....um her Undecided
