Hello all i am keen to move from space marines again, i have temped to do this a few times before with nids but it never went into anything.

I have been looking at a chaos night lords or Korn army also maybe a gray nights.

I want to try and get a small but strong assault army as i don't want to paint another 70 models this time like my scout marines.

Any one have any ideas about what is the best way to make up these army's i have listed as i have never strayed from marines before.

These are all some of the best assault guys around and i want to know what will be the best and have the least amount of models to paint.

if its chaos and grey knights it's still marines though?

hey, howabout a a small, MC heavy daemons list?  powerful in CC, small model count, totally different to marines, heaps of rad modelling options to explore.... if i hadn't committed to nids i was eyeing up various project blogs of cyber mutating daemon armies that looked rad

i'm sure you'd pick it up easy as - just dry brush onto your base coat or just black primer then douse the whole thing in a wash.  then go back over picking out the highlights.

even then you don't have to paint them flesh colours. seeing you considered a khorne, i'm guessing you'd go for a predominately red scheme.  no reason you'd have to stray from that.

and when i think of what a 40k daemon army should look like i think of this guy's army:
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=140055

i particularly like his 'flamers' that mash the fantasy ghoul kit with gas masks and lasguns melded on to the arms if i remember correctly.

MC heavy daemons list?

I'm inclined to agree thats its still marines also whats a MC daemon?

i had the other problem i started with nids then went to marines cause i wanted tanks and guns but Grey knights are one of my favs i like the psycannon and I'm sure here are lots of demons waiting to be released from people with new armies (I've heard a few people at the club saying they had a few still to paint)

i played the ghost at battlecry on the first day and I liked the way he used the guardsman to take the objectives and the knights to hammer my marines. i still can't decide which way to go as i now have a thrown together inquisitor with retinue and an old catchen starter box.

But the fact is i am shit at making models, i know you all see me make crazy stuff like my titans, my dreads and so on. But these ideas have genraly alrady been done or i have something to work off. Trying to make something out of nothing i cant do it.

If i was going to  daemons  and i would be keen i would just go with the stock models. I have always wanted a full raptor army and korn just due to i like berserkers and lots of them.

sounds like you've made your decision then Smiley a large raptor based army will look dope

anyways, as far as sculpting goes a daemon army like the one i posted wouldn't be hard - mashing greenstuff all over the place randomly.  but yeah, it'd be a lot of work :s and i'm not a fan of any of the gw daemons in a 40k setting.  with the exception of nurgle

nurgle looks damn good no matter what

just looked at all the khon guys and i they look sweet lots of bloodletters around would be fun and a few juggernauts. Its hard to say i do love chaos but i have always been ultra for over 15 years and its hard to change, it like smoking.

heh, including my 8 year 'sabbatical' i've been dark angels for 12 years.

i hear you though, it just seemed like such a chore to start something else new, but i gotta say i'm kicking off my new army a lot faster than i thought.  its also amazing how much i'm enjoying painting the bugs, simply becasue its totally different from marines.

but yeah, juggernauts would be mean.  some of those other nasty khrone units they have too, and soulgrinders and daemon princes and greater daemons running amok would be rad

khrone has the most fun Sad

Well the new scout guys are almost done the Rogue traders guys are complete for now hoping to get around 4k of them for Apoc with a few land raiders and do on but its trying to find complete Mr1 land raiders.

And my trains are almost done also and no room to make a bigger one so a 3rd list looks like it will be on the table before the end of the year and i want some crazy cheese assult list that you just shit your pants when they start running at you. and i think 40+ raptors might do that also a good 20-30 bloodletter and so on.

I really need to get the codex out and have a look and a good read and see what is best for my gaming style.

On the subject of chaos:

khorne listen to "Man o war"
Slannesh listens to "frankie goes to hollywood"
Nurgle listens to "BB King"
Tzeentch listens to "Coheed and Combria"
