i thought of all the 40k races the one that fantasy players would most identify with is eldar, there bloody elves, they have magic...like real fantasy style magic. whats not to like?
there are comparable units in each system yes?
rangers/pathfinders = elf bowmen, and most elves really, isnt there one withskirmish or some such? its been ten tears since i played so some of these migt not be there now..
wraithguard = dryads
wraithlord = treeman Do these even still have rules?
farseer/warlock = mages
light cavalry = jetbikes
rank'n'file troops = guardians
any others?
its one of the reasons i like them and when i was looking at starting fantasy a month or two ago i tought why not just dig out my eldar
, but all my 40k armies are the psychic ones Chaos, Orks, Eldar, Daemons...
had my second game with the eldar on sunday at the club, got my ass handed to me on a plate "here sir ive kicked this all over the place thought you might like it back"
learnt lots and had fun, you learn more by losing than by winning or drawing so they say. highlight/lowlpoint: in turn two, charged gun drones with three jetbikes after shooting and killing only one, lost two of three bikes and killed none and then they proceeded to draw combat til turn five, or the sheer number of ones i rolled :'(

well finished three jetbikes and two gaurdian/pathfinder squads of eight. done the blue on the banshees and started on third squad of gaurdians. hopefully done them by sunday. got all my hawk wings glued on and undercoated, look pretty good. all models now at least complete and undercoated. this might be the closest ive ever gotten to a finished army, yay small model count.
having a game tonight against eisenhorn (fingers crossed, thats how you win right?)
1850pts eldar vs ultramarines at my place. hoping for a win, expecting a draw.
dreading the thunderfire cannon, snipe snipe snipe..
any suggestions other than run away appreciated?

got a draw lst night against eisenhorns marines, lost swooping hawks and nearly a whole squad of pathfinders in first turn to that thunderfire cannon and his drop pod delivered sterngaurd. we played capture and control (the most boring scenario in the book)and played diagonally. ended in turn five with a draw...boring!!! me and eisenhorn have agreed next time we get capture we will put an extra objective in the middle of the table (like at battlecry) to keep it enteresting.
my firebase/defensive line must have scared him last game because he only tried to take my objective at the very end of the game and would not deepstrike anywhere near my objective. so just have to get the hang of the offensive part of my army and we should be up and running...

here finally are some updated pictures of my eldar, not based and some not finished, actually most not finished really, still need final tidy up a lot of them.
my farseer and autarch
one squad of pathfinders
another squad of pathfinders
these are some elf models that im using as the 'real' pathfinders that trained up my gaurdians, i will put up my fluff for this army soon.
these are my "wraith" jetbikes, there is one rider but hes not done yet
and these are my banshees (yes i know they should be bone coloured)
having trouble uploading pic of my hawks

well here is the fluff for my eldar.
a war party is sent through the webway (just as it is be torn apart) in a last ditch plan to save the eldar(needless to say that plan failed). In the Fall of the webway the eldar's falcons ant troop transports are badly damaged, forced to leave their tanks behind they continue on. trapped and lost in the webway the party searched for a way out for many many years. While wandering the webway they come across a group of pathfinders, who join the party and begin to train the gaurdians in the fine art of concielment and sniping.
So the search continues, many more years pass and the farseer and autarch have little to do but walk and train in there respective arts, magic and war (so they are not really eldrad and yriel, there just really good). The gaurdains forced away from there normal lives choose the path of the ranger and rapidly become skilled under the watchful eye of the pathfinders.
In a bloody incounter with some demons in a spot where the warp has seeped into the webway, two of the jetbikes riders are killed along with the pilot of the vyper (now without its canopy after damage), replacing the vyper pilot with a gaurdian and using the spiritstones from the bike riders the farseer and warlock bind them to the bikes (wraith-bikes).
so thats how my army ended up in the starnge format it is in.
they continue to search for a way home (un-aware there home planet is no longer)
and venture out of the webway when they can to try and find allys or news about the fall of the eldar.
