Start one? I've started about 8, its the finishing thats the problem.

I never get to the finish line, not being able to play games until you have a massive amount of models kills my motivation about 1/4 way there reliably. I'm not one for smashing down $400 on an army up front either.

I was actually looking at doing Ogres from the Trollbloods models (I've always loved the models and need an excuse to own some) last night but couldn't make it cost effective and a decent list worth the counts as hassle.

@Phil: If you're interested in playing a quick game or two let me know and I'll bring in my second Box Set.

Driller is steamrolling towards completion and I'm looking on track for fully painted this weekend. Yeah!

Blog

My Orders from Maelstrom and Down South are on their way so the only thing that shouldn't be in my hot little hands next week is my Forgeguard... and they're the ones I was most exited about... Sigh. Might have to get myself another box to console my broken dreams... wait... no. Must resist temptation to buyz.

Oh Wells, saving the best for last.

Yeah I know the community here is mighty guarded when it comes to comments on peoples painting. Well o.k I'll take a shot then Tongue

That yellow really does look striking and would be great advertising for P3. I'm assuming you're using those paints. Saw them in person and they have definitely been painted with care and looks very tidy. The yellow I thought with your B'group was too new with the extensive rusting and chipping that was painted on it. Maybe more shades of watered down devlan mud to dirty up the yellow. The Rust effect IMHO on Bokur was a bit too extensive and has overtaken the whole look and feel of the minature. I have that problem with my painting which makes them look a bit too dark. It's too early for that comment I suppose cos you prob haven't finish the progressive highlights Smiley

The driller rig looks cool as I can see some subtle weathering or is that just the lighting. I would like to see some paint weathering as well as rust. I mean the weathering you see in vehicle painting where bare silver steel is revealed where the paint has worn off or shot off.

Hope this helps and expectng the same level of criticism when I get off my ass and finish my modelling and painting blog  Grin

Yeah Mate, I'm a P3 Devotee.

I hear what you're saying and that is the real conundrum isn't it. I'm attempting to keep the "Yellow Motherf*cker!!" look of the paintjob, much like the Imperial Fists Mentality 'If I'm wearing bright yellow it means I don't think you CAN kill me, be afraid!'. Doing that while still managing to weather them a beleivable amount like the're real bercenaries who aren't too concerned about trivial things like paintwork is proving hard.

The driller rig looks cool as I can see some subtle weathering or is that just the lighting. I would like to see some paint weathering as well as rust. I mean the weathering you see in vehicle painting where bare silver steel is revealed where the paint has worn off or shot off.

I'm thinking I might give that a go with the Driller, I don't want to go too far from the rest of the boxed set for consistency's sake but you make a good point. I've already put some of the watertrails on yeah, just to see how it looks when its not factory fresh.

Vags only stocks Boxes.

Not quite true. Vagabond stocks a limited range of the single pots (at least when I was there). If they don't have what you need you can still order them through the store, though $3.75 a pot is hard to beat.

I kept trying to convince Vags to stock the whole range, but management didn't want to commit to another whole range when they already do GW and Vallejo. Suggestions of dropping the GW range altogether were not well received :-P.

But I wholeheartedly agree with Chris - the P3 paint is the holy grail of mini paint right now and recommend everyone gives it a shot, especially if you're using light colours. If only I had it when I started my pure white Deathwing army 4 years ago... :-(

You'll forgive me but special ordering from an LGS is too much effort for me. Not to bag Vags but the act seems to lack togetherness these last few years.

In other news B&L and gudrun for based today so I can add some irregulars to my games, Bear Smash! Durgen got some paint too but in the face of the Awesome Bearsome he's not looking like as much fun.

Have you guys got a link to their pallet of colours for P3?
The 6 packs from vagas with 15% disc makes em 2.85 a pot. I'm thinking thats way better than the $7 form some where else I know.

@Chris

What materials do you use for your bases mate?

I have one but its a PDF, PM me your email and I'll send it your way.

I got some plasticard Girders, I Beams and Pipes from the hobby store in Birkenhead and I cut the bricks out of square plastic rod. Pitting down the base detail bits doesn't take long then I just smother the base in $2 Superglue and dip it in a bucket of sand as normal. The superglue means you can build your humps and natural depressions out of sand rather than putting something under the sand as usual with PVA because the superglue dries almost instantly.

Its really quite quick once you get the hang of it.

Started work on the Dwarf before the Bear to get him out of the way first so not as exiting as it could have been but Brun is still a sweet model.

I think the fresh white cloth has taken the pop away from the yellow.

as with durgen I think you Should add another colour, in minimal amouts in this case to steal attention away from the white... in Durgens case, to focus attention somewhere.
