I watched 300 on the box last night. And although I have quite enough armies it stuck me that there is a great modelling opportunity to do Persians as DE in WHFB (the Spartens have been dome a few times already).

Immortals = Black Guard
Rhino and Elephant = Chariots
Giant = DoW giant
Africans = Corsairs
Generic Persians = Warriors
Persian archers = RXBow
Sneaking/flanking archers and Immortals = Shades
Sorcerers = Sorcerers
Emisary and Xerxes = Hero and Lord on Chariot or foot
Cavalry = Dark Riders fast and med cav

To do this 300 style one would just need to find some suitable models, but that shouldn't be too hard as Persians are one of the staples of wargaming minis.

Don't recall any Persian wizards or bolt throwers either...  It's sounding like a soft (Dard Elf soft anyway) sort of army.

What are you going to use (dark elfs) to represent the grenaders?

No bolt throwers, archers

In the movie the Spartans refered to the grenadiers as "sorcery", so they would be a couple of level 2 mages or as I said earlier:
Sorcerers = Sorcerers

Anyway, a modelling oportunity for someone better than me, as I already have my themed "counts as" Dark Elves

The two Spartan armies I've heard about online were High Elves and Chaos Warriors, but I'd seriously consider going DE for the Spartans too... DE all-infantry is a pretty nasty little horde army.
