deep striking malt liquids were a frequent hazard, as was the corn chip supply drops and the thrasher maws assaulting the table edges (dog tails).

even had the typical scenario of cat-running-along-the-table-with-all-the-models-setup-on.

*sigh*  the only casualty was one of my unpainted lictors thankfully.

cheers for the kind words otherwise juiced Smiley

The Giant winged thing looks awsome!! How come you didnt put any of these things in Grumpy Deamon i mean sure you would have only had like 3 models on the board but they look so cool.

you mean 3 instead of his 6  Grin Grin

looking at the Hive tyrant again, it would make a good parasite i say.

too large Matt.  i thought about doing that, but the parasite should only be about the size of a warrior.  i guess i could remake the wings and use different arms because they're what's providing most of his bulk.... maybe in the future some time.

[suggestive whisper]all the badass new special character models that came out with the badab war book, and all the totally awesome MkII-VI armour sculpts[/suggestive whisper]

and cheers Simon, and it certainly is a pity not more Warhammer stuff is produced.  looking at the kits they have available in the regular ranges these days, it boggles the mind to think what FW could come up with.

hmm, while i'm here, i may just air some thoughts i've been having about what to do next.

with battlecry coming up, i think i want to field a very different army to what i've rocked for the past year, and after partnering with you Laz I really want to run with some Ymargl genestealers.

Once I get my exam out of the way I want to bunker down to some painting and modelling, and convert up my old stealers to have the feeder tendrils and that should give me a solid 12+ of those sneaky pricks.

i might even have to force myself to make another one of my mycetic spores and do my six raveners finally

i dont think ravners need a spore mine do very welll running up. I was about to drop my Ymargl and put my lictors back in. I have added my doom back in and two brood lords now.

Ok had a bit of playing today. I think this list will work better still very close to my normal but change a few keey units

HQ

Hive T = talons and lash and BS

Elites

Ymgarl x5
Ymgarl x5
Doom

Troops

14x Hormagaunts = talons + toxin sacs
14x Hormagaunts = talons + toxin sacs
7x stealers 1x broodlord = rending claws + toxin sacs
7x stealers 1x broodlord = rending claws + toxin sacs

Fast

6x Ravaners = Rending claws

Heavy support

1x Trygon
1x Mawloc
1x Mawloc

Only one big question that i keep forgetting, MCs when rolling to wound do they wound on 2+ or you work it out normally str vs T, i am trying to work out if a Mawloc is better than a fex. As my fex do very little in my games apart from take hits. I think i will have a big bugger pop out the ground kill some models and take hits. Fex is only really good if he gets in combat but they are to dam slow. And i dont think they are worth that 185 with a gun. Vs a S6 T6 W6 model.

ahhh, wasn't going to put raveners into the spore- they can't use it anyways.  i'd prefer to chuck the doom, 20 gaunts with devourers, or one of my carnifexes with devourers into it for a bit of a laugh Cheesy

monstrous creatures roll strength vs toughness the same as everything else.  its just that very little in the game has a toughness of 8+ (just wraithlords and the nightbringer, if i remember correctly) so carnifexes will generally be wounding things on a 2+.

i think for your army two mawlocs will be a lot more fun, most definitely. i haven't had much luck running just the one, but i realise that's because you need 2 or 3 popping up and causing trouble.

Im pretty sure if you add broodlords to stealers they become eliete, you might want to check that out.

Shit dude, I'd have to say that Malanthrope is one of your best yet. The organs and tendrils appear to have a very natural and believable look to them. Your skills continue to progress and impress Smiley

Yeah dude, I'm going to be a little busy this weekend and next, but after that I'll be able to spare any Friday or Saturday for a game. Yeah it's been extremely quiet for myself on the wargaming front, I've just starting working on my Salamanders again, lots to do Smiley
