I am organising GuardCon (which is the annual CG convention) and Umpiring FOB, so.. yeah.

Hammering out the last of the player's pack now - unsurprisingly sorting out the comp system is the biggest issue (mostly the tiers and sample lists). It is definitely 25% comp (30% being acknowledged - from experience  Wink - as too much) and I am looking at an 8-man judging panel (dropping highest/lowest two scores to give 6 scores).

Once the tiers and samples are finished the pack will be done.

Email all requests for a pack to the indicated address so I can keep tabs on who has received what.

EDIT - email address fixed  Smiley

Sounds curiously interesting...

Sounds good.

I notice the venue has changed.... I guess freemans bay is unavailable. Good luck moving all the boards around.

Good luck getting the 50. I will not be there.  :'(

Heh, I am thinking I may actually have to re-learn how to play fantasy and build a list (it won't be competitive, but it will be legal) so I can play this. Damn you all for dragging me back into your backward, bizzaro world Tongue

So who wants to teach the n00b?

Well done for organizing and getting organized Dave. Taka Grammar will be a fine venue I'm sure (Onehunga RSA is however the perfect venue).

Good luck with a comp system though *chuckle*

Admittedly there is something about being a 5 minute stroll away from games and beer...

On the other hand this venue is huge (so everyone at the convention can be in one space), I can source all the trestle tables on-site, there's a good kitchen, a big projector screen, network access in the hall, plenty of parking..

Only thing I have to worry about is transporting the tabletops (which is sorted anyway).

If it wasn't for comp systems this whole thing would be a walk in the park  Tongue

Hey Dave,

Why not assign different armies to different comp levels based on perceived strength. Then get a panel of experienced judges to look at them and adjust for the options taken within the book.

After that all you need to do is have a big box of tissues so we can all cry about how hard done by we all were.

Regards

Well I might as well be the first on this forum seeing as Josh beat me to it on the other. (This is assuming I can make it to the tournament)

Oi, greenskin scum!! (a.k.a. Josh Warne how are ya mate?)

I am going to smash your head in then burn your body on the biggest pile of troll dung I can find. (Its time we had a decent punch up again. Please bring your wyvren if it will fit in.)

See you on the battlefield, and bring your theiving, good for nothing, squig tickling, zog heads with you.
(Hopefully I should be able to make it to FOB)

Would it be possble to use those unit filler things, can we borrow models i.e. someones spare organ gun?

It would actually allow me to tweak my list.

Unit fillers for the win my friend (as long as they are appropriate and fit the style and character of the unit... and of course they're painted).

You're welcome to borrow any of my Dwarf models for the tournament (seeing as I'll be there and all Cheesy). I have an Organ Gun just itching to blow away a herd of Squig Hoppers. Or any Wyvern foolish enough to get in it's way  Wink

Email received - will flick the player's pack out to you when it's finished.

21 players have registered their interest in the short time since I started this topic. Great start folks - let's keep those emails coming in!

With the obvious intention of fielding a list that although will still go down 20-0, it'll take me until at least turn 3 before the last stunty legs it off the board.

I was going to slap Warpmaster (Darren) from down south a challenge...  but his face is way too frozen and I'm wary of getting my hand stuck to it!  (Just have to ensure I don't use my "dice hand").

Given the lack of Dave's..  I'm grudging a Darren!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Off the board" as in having to chase your army again? I might need another gyrocopter then to make sure I don't miss any of your lads.

Send an email to the address in the first post please.

Whoever wants to register for this better get it together fast. I haven't even sent out the flippin player's pack yet and I'm already receiving payments!!!

33 players have currently registered their interest for this event. 4 months out that's nearly the same numbers as last year's field... before advertising! I'll have to start looking at available space once we hit the 45 player mark and whether I need to cap numbers. Also, once we get 45 or so we will get substantial interest from overseas travellers.

I would it was far more preferable to cater for the local gaming community than to worry too much about the offshore guys.

Agreed but it's still first come first served. Some people are enamoured with a policy of leaving entries to the last minute and I'd like to caution them to avoid disappointment Smiley

Certainly it should be first come, first served....I thought you were intimating that you were keeping some places "reserved" for offshore guys......no drama then

Oh I see... no, definitely not setting places aside if off-shore players decide later that they want to go. They would miss out just like anyone else. Gut feel is a 60 player limit.

That would be a great turn out. I look forward to having the Orcs completely finished by then. I get confused between FoB and GuardCon... when is GuardCon? I'll definately be going to both.

I get a little confused myself sometimes.

GuardCon is the annual City Guard gaming convention (26/27 September this year).

Fields of Blood is the name of the Fantasy tournament held at that convention.
