agree on the fluff point and i love fluff..... most of the novels have marines supporting a weakened imp world facing some otherworldly threat .....or  been used by a inquisitor for his own secret plans to destroy a planet for the greater good.....but lots of gamers don't play for fluff they play to win. each to there own, but i know where i stand......... .............w ay over here next to the Cheddar, eating blue vein while smoking Parmesan with a big Camembert hat on Grin

If I wanted to join you, I'd throw Vulkan He'Stan for re-rolls on all missed melta and flamer hits, and switch to assault terminators with thunder hammers for multi attacks, it wouldn't be super cheesy but it would at least start to smell funky Cheesy

I'm at the point where I've nearly made up my mind about the list, I have a good 50% of the models already so I think it's time to just fork out the dough and see how it plays, I'll have to ask for some mercy from people with hard/cheesy lists until I'm not soo much of a newbie Smiley

eh, it'd only be cheese if you let vulkan's chapter tactics carry over to the sisters Smiley  as it stands i don't see any reason why your list couldn't work.  sure it isn't necessarily as powerful as the more obvious builds out there, but i reckon it'll be fun taking a some what irregular build and finding ways to make it work.

Yeah that's true, it doesn't exactly specify that they do or don't carry over to inducted units, so it's a tad vague there, from what I've seen online it isn't illegal, just frowned upon.

But yeah full on, I really don't want to just wind up with some cookie cutter power gamer build, it wouldn't feel right to me, kinda like having someone paint your army for you, it just doesn't have that same attachment.

i reread his entry, and the wording is weird because all the other captain's rules state you replace combat tactics with such-and-such rule except his.

*scratches head*

well, me and my guard player friend cobbled together a bunch of rough looking scenery yesterday, pretty stoked with how it all turned out.  so that and more sealing and mashing with my board, i should have my gaming setup ready eventually.

recording aside :s

Sweet man, I need to get in touch with 40K players who have their own tables, I'm stuck working Sunday shifts so I can't play at the city guard for an unknown amount of time Sad, I get Fridays and Saturdays off instead.

Ok Ok, this will be one of my last updates I swear Cheesy

I've taken into consideration what Neckface and Ry have said in regards to my list, what I've realized is that I can actually move the inquisitor lord into my elite slot and still give him the retinue I was thinking of, This means I've dropped the Celestian squad which was over priced and added a canoness.

After taking a more careful look at the codex, having a dominion squad with that load out makes NO sense, with that weapon load out it is actually cheaper to turn them into a Sister of Battle squad, I think it will indeed help to have more troops on the field.

Replacing the Celestian squad will be a devastator squad with some heavy weapon backup in a rhino, I hope to be able to bring down numbers with some decent firepower from the Inquistor and devastator squad before my troops get stuck in HtH combat as this is what I think will pose a problem against swarm type armies, got a few templates weapons there to use Smiley

Looking at how many points in each force slot, it's looking better having the largest section in troops now compared to it all being in the 'toys' section before. Let me know how this is looking.

interesting, a devastator squad?  where'd that come from? Cheesy

that's actually looking a bit like the odd one out now Tongue

but otherwise, everything else is looking pretty focussed, while still a varied and interesting list Smiley

Whats a faith point do?

I'm in favour of big squads in case you wander across some napping orks my scouts always die in large numbers, but saying that I've lost many a terminator to an exploding vehicle.

Its looking good, I like the mixing of normal humans with marines, i feel that it gives you a little of whats missing out of the marine codex

i think having the scout squad that size won't be an issue, considering they'll be off in the distance sniping away (just be careful to not imagine 36" is longer than it actually is) and they'll be receiving a healthy cover save .  heck if a techmarine was brought along, you could bolster a terrain piece, chuck your scouts in there and enjoy a 2+ cover save :s

the techmarine could even take inquisitor's servitors and make your heavy weapons support that way.

as for faith points, sisters of battle generate a number of these that they can use in a battle (or turn, i'm hazy on the rules) and these make the SoBs take a test and grant them all sorts of nastiness, inv saves, AP2 weaponary or stuff to that degree.  its pretty nasty and what keeps the SoBs as a powerful unit in comparison with everything else

I'm liking the techmarine idea

Yeah faith points can be used for a range of one off boosts in the movement, shooting or assault phases, they work similar to psyker powers. And I think if used right they could really throw a few people off. The faith tests are based on rolling equal to or lower than the number of models in a unit or vice versa.

The devastator squad was a bit of greedy choice, I was thinking a of large guns and destruction, the thing with the inquisitor is I already have the models and it also makes sense fluff wise which I like to pander to a little, and the army would be too small to include both Sad

The option I was thinking of is dropping the devastators and going with a Seraphim squad, I think they are cool and I like the models, I had them in there before I mounted my troops, so I think I could add them back in now and use my armour as cover for their advance as I was told they would get shredded on approach when they were in my earlier list. Also one of the faith powers is REALLY well suited to them (gives +2 init. when assaulting) and they would bring another faith point on board.

yeah i think the synergy they'd bring to all the other sister's squads as well as the relative close-range attacks you have with your marines would make the seraphim a more obvious and practical choice.

i really need to bring my own devastators to the field one day.  i've got four plasma cannons waiting to get finished and really would be a bit of fun to fiddle with

and fair comment on the techmarine - as an aside, if you still think you'd want to bring one just on his own i've got a spare techmarine kicking about.  you could just take him as a standard tech, just there to bring what few special rules he has.

salaamanders would like to have their artificers close at hand anyways Tongue especially to tend to the land raider redeemer during down-time.  you never know, its not a popular choice, but the option is there if you want it.

by the way, did you still want that assault cannon for your termies?  and all the transfers?

Yeah I originally had a tech marine in my list, I'll give it some thought, maybe have him as a switch out for variety later.

I had to drop the assault cannon from Terminator squad to free up some points, If I can still grab it off you and I'll put it on the models anyway simply for style Smiley I have heaps of transfers now after getting Rhino and Scout squad, so I'm all sorted there thanks.

Have switched the Devastators for Seraphim (Yeah obvious really) and I am finally truely feeling happy with the list. Cheers everyone for the input, and extra props to yourself Neckface, cheers for the help.
