Occam's Mindrazor, spell #6 of the shadows lore;

"...Models in the target unit use their leadership instead of strength when rolling to wound with all close combat attacks whilst the spell remains in effect..."

I've been under the impression that this strength is also used to modify the opponent's armour save as well, as have my opponents.  However upon closer inspection it looks like we might have been wrong doing this.  The rules specifically include the phrase 'when rolling to wound', and that phrase wouldn't be necessary if the point of the spell was to completely give the unit a new strength value even for the purposes of armour save modification.  I can only think of three uses of a unit's str characteristic s in warhammer:

*rolling to wound
*modifying armour saves
*strength tests

I think its easy to conclude that you can't use the effect of the spell to help your guys pass strength tests, but with armour saves it's less obvious, as that is something linked quite closely to the damage resolution process.  Can't find anything in the FAQ.  My inclination would be to rule that the spell doesn't help you wipe out the enemy armour with your extra strength based on the above argument.

Opinions?

i dont think there is a option to use strenght to wound  and not modify armour saves with the same value . i also dont think the intention/ sprit it was written in that you wound olny be able to use it for the wound roll

Re-read the FAQ. It's been altered to '...Models in the target unit use their leadership instead of strength FOR all close combat attacks'. (see: page 3 of the main rules FAQ)

So yes, armour-be-gone. Thread over.

7th ed sword of might said the exact same thing, and I never saw anyone try to argue that it wasn't used to modify armour saves.
