After playing a guard vs guard game on Friday night I realised that they are truly the most boring army in the 40k universe. So I decided to change what I was using to something that was more me. Gone are the over sized platoons and orders that I tried out.

HQ commisar lord-pwr weapon 80pts
T veteran squad-Gunnery sarge Blaine(converted up to look like like blaine on predator with a minigun)
Demolitions, 2 flamers. 165pts
T vet squad-Demolitions, 2 grenade launchers, chimera-xtra armour. 180pts
T vet squad-Demolitions, 2 grenade launchers, chimera-xtra armour. 180pts
E 5 ogryns in chimera-xtra armour 280pts
E Guardsman Marbo 65pts
FA Hellhound OR Banewolf-xtra armour/smk launcher 150pts
HS 2 Leman Russ Punishers-Hvy bolter sponsons. 400pts
HS 2 Leman Russ Vanquishers- Hvy bolter sponsons. 350pts

TOTAL 1850

Options... Swap out the ogryns and chimera for a primaris psyker and another punisher with multi melta sponsons to go with the two vanquishers. I finished converting the two vanquishers yesterday and I reckon they will be the biz.

Comments? Thoughts?
Cheers.

I always thought Guard were the most interesting army..... nothing like regular grunts taking on the universe.

List looks fine to me - adding a flyer would help in the 'make it intereting' department.

Nah. I aint paying over a hundy for a valkyrie mate. Only had to pay for one russ in my guard... They are interesting fluffwise but they tend to play like a boring stationary cabbage. Wudnt mind 3 scout sentinals in this force...

I very much use to enjoy the Imperial Guard. However, with fifth edition I'm not so sure... I haven't even bothered to really look at the codex I'm that disinterested. When I start 40K again I'll be having a tank force.

Your list looks pretty groovy from my old understanding of the army. Wink And yes, that looks very "you". Cheesy Shocked

Those Valkyrie's are a RIP-OFF!

i'd have to argree about that i wanted 1 but $105 is a big rip

they tend to play like a boring stationary cabbage.

i'm fairly sure you can move 6" (with the lemon russ) and still fire the main turret mounted gun plus another main gun

I think he means the men play like a cabbage. I have to say I am yet to see an exciting, moving cabbage. Tongue

I know what Daemion means however; my army just used to sit there; advance with the tanks, and that was about it. Worked for me. Wink

What I have been told by GW staff in st lukes that Leman Russ can move 6 and fire all the weapons .

BTW
Culexus Temple Assassin+ 2 Psyker Battle Squad is much better than punisher.

You will have a WS5 S5 AP1 Assault 20 gun and 2 S9 AP D6 large blast ( or reduce 2 unit's Ld per turn)

Although, I'm pretty sure the Psycher Squad "counts as" a single psycher (as per unit rules).

Also requires 3 elites and a HQ to do.

Happy to be corrected though.

They are treated as single psyker for purpose of using psyker power only. Each one of them is psyker except overseer.
If you need inquisitor's anti- deepstrike and anti- psyker abilities why not upgrade him to lord and take a WS5, S5 AP1 Assault 20 assassin as well?

Yeh. But thats just wrong. Dont need no steenking assassins or psykers. Go the guard! And i have another two punishers to throw in the mix. stupido magic users. Give em a taste of guard steel what?! amd 5 demo charges thrown around of course!
