Gidday.

I know Wizards can't wear armour, (unless it says so in the appropriate army book) but where does it actually say this in the rule book? I've had a damn good look but can only find a bit at the back that alludes to it. Am I missing a bit in the book that is really obvious? Angry

Thanks.

Hey Lezle,

You'll find that most books won't give you an option to equip your mage with armour. Except for those chaos sods who get chaos armour included. I suppose thats how GW skirts around the issue of armour wearing mages with out saying so. There was a discussion i remember concerning equipping said chaos cheese mage with enchanted shield as well on a mount to get a 1+ sav. I can't rem how that finished. Anyone?

Actually  - Chaos Armour is a 4+ save, Enchanted Shield +2,  Chaos Steed (Barded) +2 that's 0

With Chaos, its not an option to take armour, they come with it
The rule is if its not an option to have armour then they can't take it. except where is says they can  Undecided

Chaos wizards are the exception, of course.  That, and empire who have access to a single magic armour item that counts as another exception.  Other than that, you'll find that in the army books rather than the rulebooks is where it says wizards can't wear armour as it conflicts with their magical abilities.  Check around the magic items section.

Where is this rule, Derick? I can't find where it says that either. Cheesy

Lets say for example; If it doesn't say so specifically anywhere, could you not outfit an Empire Wizard Lord with the Armour of Meteoric Iron (+1 magic armour). If fluff is the only thing stopping you...

It's a rule. It's under Magic Items in the main rulebook; basically, characters who cannot take non-magical armour can't take magical armour either. It isn't fluff.

(VC also have an exception or two spelt out; all Vampires can take magical armour 'cause they're vampires, and Necromancers can wear the Nightshroud)
