A few of us tested out the concept of 500 pt gaming on Friday night.

It put a very interesting twist to the game, and we were able to get in about 6 games each in the space of about 4 hours.

Most had raiding parties, I brought a Goblin horde and got smashed Smiley. I think a Skaven horde would have been a good challenge.
Anthony and Glenn were leading the pack with evil darkies

If we get enough people together, we could probably do it again sometime.

I enjoyed it too, but I do think that using different rules such as the warband rules ( www.warfan.net/Warbands.pdf) might make it a bit better. We could even run a small escalation campaign?

Yeah... my army was cheese... world's smallest mobile gunline. Smiley

Those rules look pretty neat. I'd be up for using them.

Yeah, we did a similar thing at our club a while ago. It went really well, especially since the games were quick and you could "level up" rather nicely in the space of an afternoon. Maybe make it lead to bigger battles, for example its a skirmish that can give extra bonuses for later games.

Gidday,

I've been pondering that evening many months ago of late and wonder'd if, seeing as it was enjoy'd by all we should give it another bash. One Sunday at the club in a few weeks, for example. Hell, make a tourney of it! Five games; battle points only; armies must be painted etc... Nick's rules in the link above?

Thoughts?

These 500 point games may even be a good way for the complete fantasy noob like myself to learn the basics of the game without having to worry about an entire 2000 point army

Quick Nick!!

Make up some rules, like: if a wood elf player puts his thumb on the table then the opposing player has to do the same until the WE player removes his tumb, or if a person is caught rolling dice with his right hand then someone who spots it and shouts 'Buffalo!" will recieve a free pie courtesy of the person who got caught, etc.
