Ken tried the same thing to my WE. They moved out of the way.

I actually think Dwarves are a VERY difficult army to win with (that's why they don't win many tournaments) except against armies that 'have' to get into combat to kill anything. As Phil says, often opponents lose by 'recklessly' charging those blocks, or standing in front of the guns.

For Dwarves to do well 'tactically' is very hard to achieve, maybe even impossible, which is why 95% of players hide & shoot (or charge out, get surrounded and die).

Overall, I like the occassional foray with the fat ones, but theres a reason I always do it with borrowed models.... they're a bit dull.

ADC scalps collected = 2 (does it count as 2 when it's been Philfy both times?)

Well I am satisfied with those answers. Cheers Fujin, Philfy, and Simon.  Grin

So when it comes to playing against the army you hate the most (whatever it is), would you have and/or allow a rematch with your opponent?

When I go to tournaments, whether I won or lost I generally get the contact details of my opponent so I we can have another go at each other.

What about you guys? When it come to playing against the armies you dislike the most, do you enjoy the rematch more than the first game?

Most players are surprised when a dwarf army comes across the table at them...  given that more often than not they castle up and say "come get me".
Dwarves don't win games IMO - their opponents lose them.  And this is purely and simply due to manuevring troops.  Dwarves simply DO NOT have the ability to go out and attack as pretty much every other army does.  Its a fact.
true, true, i used my dwarf army in field of blood 2007 and guardcon 2008, i found it really hard to get any big win, and tend to get low sport, (i never can get a 5 no matter how friendly i am) due to castle up and shoot the crap out of everything.

Castle up, shoot and counter attack, if i don't do that, i lose. simple.

Yes, the only way to do it is to use the anvil of doom to move your troops around, I use to play with a combat dwarf army, and it was a lot of fun to play with although i get smashed all the time, but that was before all those bullshit new army books came out.

I think that's the real disappointment - Dwarf tactics are only ever a variation on this theme. Even with Strollaz and an Anvil you are incredibly limited in what you can achieve. It's good to see people try it now and then - if it actually worked it would make the army much more interesting and versatile!

Thing is, Empire can do this too (admittedly not as well due to lower toughness and armour and restricted magic banners). But Empire can also go Cav-heavy or Magic-heavy or Shooting-heavy or Suicide-infantry-wave-of-doom-heavy (TVI-stylee). To my mind list versatility is what makes any given army book so attractive.

Perhaps that's why I don't care much for Tomb Kings either...? They are certainly more versatile than Dwarfs but the magic seems so instrinsic to making the list work you will always see 2 Liche Priests + other characters (usually Prince and King from what I've played against and seen online) and a series of benchmark list choices. Then again, I'm happy to admit I don't know enough about the army itself to offer more than a naive comment.

It's almost enough to make me like playing Daemons as the builds can be quite different from player to player (except I guess for the staple units of Fleshies, Flamers and Horrors)  Grin

That's why anvil of doom is so important, becuase dwarves simply do not have the
ability to outmanuevre the enemy.
they need the firepower to force the enemy to come and get them then force them into combat.
