i know you can buy steel/alloy tape from mitre 10 etc. it's like duct tape made from metal but its really expensive. I was looking for this stuff too and the best i could find was thin sheet metal 2mm thick. So let me know if you have anymore luck

Resene sells a magnetic paint. This is a paint with metals in it that magnets can stick to.
So its more like a metal paint than a magnet itself.
I've been thinking this might be a good solution myself.
