Just read the Natcon players pack!  Uh oh.  Although I loved the idea of fluffycon, I was really looking forward to trying out a harder list as i've never played 7th ed with anything tougher than a fluffcon army.  Natcon looks like fluffycon MK2...  Although there are no hard caps, did I spend the last few days painting up my casket of souls in vain?  I suspect i'm bound to get vetoed or at least crippled by a comp modifier unless I cool down my hero items and magic even further, and go out to buy something like a box of skeleton warriors armed with spears.

My collection of models:

-King on foot and in chariot
-2x TK battallion, so in total 16 horsemen, roughly 36 warriors, 6 chariots
-2x scorpions
-3x carrion
-catapult
-Liche on foot and on horse
-Casket of souls
-25 Tomb Guard

Advice on a suitable list using that stuff Smiley ?

You are more than welcome to anything in my TK collection. It's all well painted and has everything you're missing. I've used TKs in tournaments for about 3 years and would be happy to help you out with anything. I'll see you on Sunday anyway.

Would rather not use someone else's stuff.  I'm sure you would agree that it is more satisfying to use models that you have assembled, painted, and planned around yourself.  But the tournament is a while away.  I may get some extra bits and pieces.

I'd suggest sending a PM Dave Grants way Luke...  he is a masterful TK player  (yes - such a thing occurs even though he is "Dave"  *coughs* *chokes* *splutters*).

I believe your deployment was a bit naff in our game against my daemons.  Caskets are pretty models, but will get a second look in any event - much like the Archlector/Altar combo, Star Dragons, Blood thirsters etc.

Tomb Kings I believe are very much an army that are less about "what you have" and more about "how you use it".

Would be happy to line you up a rematch against my "fluffy" daemons at Cityguard at some stage - or against my 2250pt equivalent (which may be of more use to you).

IMO you were treated a little harshly in regards to the -12 score.  Adding a casket MAY garner you a similar score at Natcon...  but other options I suspect are likely to not.

Bear in mind that a TK magic phase is literally unstoppable for most armies.  And your shooting is certainly to be feared, as is the SSC.  If you recall in our game I advanced VERY quickly as I knew I was vunerable to these things as well as your magic phase.

For fluffycon you effectively got the same comp score as I did for my daemons.  And I think the armies were well matched to be frank.  Something to think about quaiff?

Please also note guys that the painting requirement has been dropped in the final pack.  Whilst still desirable, now not "required".

Whilst not so much a "fluffycon" by any means...  it is hoped that players will use the lessons learnt from Fluffycon in regards to their army design and not go too over the top.

Hence, whilst bearing in mind that the comp score is a decent chunk of your overall score, it is not as high a percentage as Fluffycon (or even the NZ Masters last year for that matter.)

Thanks Phil..... but yes I am awesome.

As Phil says, TK are all about how you use it, and they are one of harder armies to use well, BUT when used well they are VERY good.

That's why the get hurt in judged comp often, cos the judges don't know whos using them, and assume they will be used to their potential - which often means a difficult time for the TK opponent.

Luke - you can include Anything (incl the casket) and still get a good (or at least average) comp score, the issue comes when you take ALL the hard stuff.

Decide what you 'REALLY' want to use (2-3 things), then I'll write up an example list for you, with some notes on how to use it, and what the strengths / concessions are - and I will use your models only. If you want we can even arrange a game at CG sometime before the event, and you can see how I'd get it to work.

Interestingly I've never used a casket, and think they're poop as its just a great big target that often gets a priest killed (at least that's my experience when I've played against them). But if you want to use your shiney new toy, then I'm sure it can be made to work well.
